Jason and I have tried many, many times to establish some good family scripture study/prayer habits. And we have failed many, many times.
Our biggest problem was that we would forget for a few days and then have absolutely no idea where we had left off--so we read 1 Nephi 1 a lot but never managed to erally make it any further.
This year I decided to change that. So I came up with a plan. A simple plan. An easy plan. A foolproof family scripture study plan.
For this scripture study plan, we use a monthly planner with nice, large squares. On Sunday evenings, we decide what we would like to do as a family on the next Saturday--as long as we read our scriptures every night! We've done things like family movie night, go hot tubbing at Grandma's house, get ice cream and french fries--easy things that don't cost much money. Every night after dinner, we gather together to read a few verses from the Book of Mormon. When we're done, I write on that day's square the verse that we left off on, so there's no question of where we are! I also write a sentence or two about what we read. What do you do to make sure your family reads scriptures together?
