I learned a valuable lesson today

It was about curtain rods.
And that if you have a 48 inch window, you need a curtain rod that extends past 48 inches, and not one that claims to fit windows 24-48 inches wide. Because the curtain rod might extend 48 inches, but only in such a way that makes it impossible to hang without it breaking apart in the middle.
I learned this after trying to hot glue and tape my rod together in the middle. I thought it worked, excitedly threaded my newly sewn curtain onto the rod, and hung it--then watched it sag in the middle, come apart, and fall to the floor.
Now I have a curtain for Tempe's room, but no rod; and a rod that will fit my kitchen window, but no curtain.

Man, that stinks.

Really! I've totally done that too! The silly curtain rod in TJ's room would never quite fit even though it said it would. I feel for you:)
