Tempe's conversation with a salesman

"Is your mom or dad home?"

"My mom can't come to the door. She don't have none clothes on."

"She what?"

"She don't have none clothes on. She took a bath!"

"Ohh... well, can you tell your mommy I'll be back?"

"Where are you going?"

"To talk to the neighbors."

"Um... but why?"

"I'll be back--shut the door and be good! Shut the door!"

Ok, I finally thought it was safe to go out in the hall at this point, where I found Tempe standing in the open doorway. When I told her to close the door, she said "But Mom, he said he will be right back!!"
