I can't believe it has been a whole year (yesterday) since this little darling joined our family.
Juno Kate turned one yesterday. Am I a bad mom because I didn't take a picture of her on her actual birthday? She had a cute outfit--jeans (I finally found a pair that fit her!!), a "Birthday Girl" shirt that all three of my kids have worn on their first two birthdays, a ruffly cardigan, a double breasted pea coat, and a brown beanie. Jason said "Wow, our baby is a hipster!" when he came home from work. Hahaha.
Juno weighs about 12 1/2 pounds. So far she is the smallest of my three girls. Tempe was 14 pounds on her first birthday, Helena 15 pounds. But don't let her small size fool you! She is just as active and into things as any other one year old. She can crawl really fast when she wants something (usually something her sisters have). She can pull all the DVDs off the shelf. She can pull herself to a stand and is starting to cruise along furniture. She's even starting to experiment with letting go of whatever she pulled up on! She can climb stairs. She can climb out of her bumbo seat.
Proof:
This is how she insists on eating dinner. No matter how many times I sit her back down, she immediately climbs back up and sits on the edge--and continues to eat from her tray. And yes, she has fallen out (just onto the counter). I don't leave her alone in it, but she is fast! I guess I have to get out our real high chair... the bumbo is so much easier because I can just put the whole thing in the sink to wash off after mealtime, plus it sits on the counter so I don't have to sweep the floor.
She is a happy girl. Sometimes not, but usually. She sits on the edge of her crib like this, just waiting patiently for me to come get her after her nap. And boy, is she happy when someone comes in!! Some days she takes two naps, others just one, but she is mostly sleeping through the night now. Every once in a while she needs someone to come find her pacifier or fill up her cup of water.

She's not talking yet (not even close), but she does wave, clap, and hold up one finger to say "I'm one!" Oh, she also blows on her hot food and this morning she put a whistle in her mouth (backwards) and started blowing. Last week I was trying to get us all out the door for a doctor's appointment and I was clapping my hands kind of angrily, saying "Let's go, let's go!!!" Then I looked down and Juno was clapping her hands with the biggest smile on her face.
As for her hips, she had a follow-up on Halloween, where they did an x-ray and examined her hips. Her hip socket is still too shallow, but her hip is in the socket and her doctor doesn't think it will dislocate again. Now that she is putting more weight on it by standing and crawling (and soon, walking!), the socket should deepen. She's completely through with her nighttime hip brace and doesn't go back until May!
