So I've been trying to get healthier (ie lose 8 pounds!) since last April. So far, I've tried yoga, pilates, aerobics videos, walking an hour every single day, jogging, and cutting out sweets 6 days out of the week. Blerg! Changing my diet has helped, but I miss the yummies :( As far as being active just for the sake of being healthier, it's hard to keep working to stay active when there's not a whole lot of obvious improvement, like weight loss.
Anyway, that's why I was excited when I found out about CafeWell. CafeWell is a social network that partners with large healthcare companies to bridge the gap between health plans and the member, offering support, tips from Olympic athletes and other experts, and motivation to get and stay fit. I love the idea that CafeWell works with healthcare companies and members to help everyone be healthier. Anyone can join and it's free!
If you are a member of Altius, CafeWell has a great program called Reach for the Peaks. Reach for the Peaks is a program where users participate in a wireless pedometer program--and the best part is, there are prizes! Things like HDTVs, trips to Hawaii, Amazon gift cards... but the real prize is getting in shape, right?
Other users of this program say things like:
"I'm absolutely thrilled with this motivating program!"
I'm excited to get moving and finally get into shape. Using a program like this as motivation is exactly what I need to stay active! How about you?
