my current Krispy Kreme situation

If you are not aware, September 19th is "Talk like a Pirate Day". 

This is really no problem for me, because my Facebook language has been set to Pirate for so long that I don't even know the real phrases in English. "Like? What's that? Do you mean Arr!?"

So when I heard that Krispy Kreme was doing a free doughnut promotion, I knew we had to do it.

I love doing kooky stuff like this. I hope my kids will look back and laugh and I think that I was a fun mom because we spent a morning putting together pirate costumes to get some free doughnuts.

The deal was, talk like a pirate, get one free doughnut; dress like a pirate, get one dozen free doughnuts.

We rooted through closets and dress up baskets and put together pirate outfits.... errr... and princess. And baby. Then when we got to the counter, we all said "Arr, whare be the treasure?!" and were presented with a hot doughnut to eat while we waited for our other four dozen to be boxed up.
WAIT.... four dozen?!! I assumed (wrongly) that this was a "one per household" deal. No. There were four of us, so we received (including the hot ones we ate) a total of 52 Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

It was fun to watch the doughnuts float through the oil, flip, get drenched in icing, and then boxed.

I actually really love this outfit. Of course, I usually don't wear the skull and crossbones bandana, or a string of beads, or carry a pirate sword. But I think it lent itself nicely to being a pirate costume.
