First of all, look over there. No, not at the open playroom door, at the sidebar of my blog. Yes! I was featured at U Create, which is one of my absolute favorite blogs. There are always really great ideas and overly talented bloggers over there, so go check it out!
Second, I have gained a lot of new followers and readers and I want to welcome them! I hope you stick around, at least until my blogoversary, because I have been working on a fantastic giveaway item :)
Third, today was my first day babysitting a little boy in my neighborhood. He is in afternoon kindergarten, so I will have him Monday through Thursday from 9 am until I take him to school at 12:30. I went back and forth for a few months on whether or not I should take this on, but I am glad I finally decided to do it. I'm earning some extra money (hello Disneyland) and there are some other benefits as well. I'm sorry to say that I have been in a mothering slump. I love my girls, but when I'm hanging out at the house with them 24/7, it's easy to lose sight of the joy they bring me. But I think having another kid around in the mornings is going to help me appreciate even more the times when it's just me and my girls.
Finally, I need some advice. I learned today that 5-year-old boys are very different from 3-year-old girls. What can I do to entertain him? What do boys like to do (besides have snail races, which is what we did for hours today)?

Hello there-
I am, YES' one of your new followers! I have been in a mothering slump myself. I actually have been homebound for almost 2 solid weeks.. EWWW! ME SICK and sick kids ect. However, I hear from my hubs at work that the men he works with say to him that their wifes are ready to quit their jobs (new moms of new babies) and they hate working and want to be home. I realize even more then that I AM SO BLESSED to be home with my kids. I have had moms that work, tell me how lucky I am that I am home, and I am.
K- for the 5 year old boy, as a mother of a 7 almost 8 year old son. LEGOS! get the bigger fat ones for now, and trains with tracks, and you might just be set. GOOD LUCK!
My boys can spend hours playing with Hot Wheels cars and little metal airplanes. Also, I would go with the Legos. They love that!! My boys also like the little plastic dinosaurs, so you might pick some of those up. I see them at garage sales all the time!! :)
p.s. If you want to learn how to bake bread your "30 before 30 things list" you can visit my recipe blog mykitchencookin.blogspot.com for a recipe. Baking homemade bread sounds intimidating but its actually easy... its more a waiting process then anything!
LEGOs! Maybe the boy's mom can send a few of his favorite toys until you can acquire some boy toys.
Congrats on being featured on the blog! I love your pillows!
Congrats!!
I am one of your new followers =)
Cute blog.
Cute creations.
Cute kiddo's!
I just started keeping a three year old this Summer and I totally agree that it makes the times I have with just Josie so much sweeter! Plus it shows me what a perfect angel she is!
Good luck!
I found you over at Ucreate, and I'm a follower now! How can I not follow a blog when one of my daughters name is Helena too!! OK, so your question about the 5 yr. old boy- I'd say it depends on the boy. Ask the mom what his favorite toy or game is and then find a way to make it extra special at your house. For example, my son LOVES fire trucks. My mom watches him when I'm at work and he has a special firetruck that he plays with at her house. He's been known to complain when Saturday comes and he has to be home with me instead of with fun grandma! Best of luck with the babysitting :)
